Bollywood is crammed with English speaking actors. But one actress who gets her English wrong is Namrata Shirodkar. Well, the actress who studied in Marathi medium school for a major part of her learning years in not very comfortable with English. And, her accent in particular, is clearly a give away.

When she shared honours with talented Tabu for her award winning Astitva, she too benefited. Filmmakers took note of her `pretty but assured look` in the film.Now two years later when director Manjrekar is scripting the said film for an international audience with Sushmita Sen as the lead, Shirodkar took it for granted that she too would be a part of the film. What`s more? She managed to convince the director that she should have more scenes added, which her mentor gladly agreed. After all, it was to be her international debut.

But last week, she was dropped like a hot potato. The reason? "I cant speak English the way they (the British) do," rues the Marathi actress. A word of advice for Namrata - wouldn`t it help if you got your Hindi perfected instead and learn to emote before the camera?
